We have our third Creative Commons Gallery postcard in our racks at the moment. The image is by an artist called Karl Bergin. His images can be seen here.

Our Creative Commons series features artists we admire that have images that are licensed with a Creative Commons license. If you have images that have a Creative Commons licence and would like to see them in our racks then simply email info@thepictureworks.com.

Turtlehead

One of our clients, Turtlehead, recently printed postcards with us using our Digital Daily service. They printed them to promote their clothing line which is really cool, check out their site if you haven't already.

Their designs are limited to 500 pieces and all their t-shirts are printed in Ireland on ethically made and environmentally friendly 100% cotton tshirts.

The best thing about them is that any artist can submit a piece of work to have printed on their t-shirts and if you are selceted you are paid a lump sum and 5% of the profit from the sales of your t-shirt.

I love Typography

And I do. This is great blog that I recently come across. Aside from its great design and aesthetics, it is a serious typography resource.

As the name suggests there is passion a go go in this blog and I have only just scratched the surface of it.

It talks you through designing and creating your own type face, history and development of type, fonts that should be used in web design and how. It also links to sites where you can buy the latest and greatest fonts available and to others where you can download free fonts.

If you haven't given type much thought this site will set you off on a different path and if you are already into fonts ........... this will not be your last trip to this blog.

David LaChapelle's Culture Night

Tonight is Culture night in Dublin city. Over 120 arts and cultural organisations open their doors until late with hundreds of free events, tours, talks and performances for you, your family and friends to enjoy. There’s never been so much culture to experience for free!

For us, the exhibition to see is David LaChapelle's American Jesus in the Connaught House, Burlington Road until October 31st. The exhibition aims to portray the obsessions of American culture - celebrity worship and plastic surgery. The exhibition is set in a recession style exhibition space.
